More than 1414 children victim of sexual offences during last 2008
The number of sexual offences committed against children increased significantly, the statistics released by the Office of Childhood Protection and Minors’ Crimes at the Direction of judicial Police services, revealed.
The same statistics concerning 2008, unveiled that female children are the most targeted than male ones, up to 1414 suffered from sexual offences during 2008, including 762 female children, 652 male, and 17 cases of incest.
In this regard, the Police deputy marshal, Mrs Messoudene Kheira, has indicated that such figures could not demonstrate the reality, adding that there are a great number of people victims of sexual offences, but they could not unveil the identity of the people behind such acts, because of fear.
Mrs. Messoudene has pointed out that these acts are as a consequence of psychological instability, saying that the sex offenders are not unemployed people, as the majority think, but even those with university diplomas.
In a an interview with El Khabar, the same speaker has indicated that the parents are responsible of 90% of sexual abuses, because the offenders do not think about committing such an act, but they seize the time and the place to perpetrate their acts.
